Dan Burgess is a Snagger who participated in Snagajob’s Movember challenge. Dan reflects on Movember at Snagajob and the art of growing a mouth brow:
Growing a mustache. Now, I can check it off my bucket list. Being told I look "creepy" was not on my bucket list, but it comes with having a 'stache. Dudes were very complimentary and probably jealous of my sweet 'stache and girls always seemed to walk in the other direction or ask when I was going to shave. A number of males here at Snagajob decided to take on the challenge of Movember, and it wasexciting to see our leadership team joined in on the fun.
Two of my coworkers, Kristi and Kristen, created a group with Movember and led a fundraising campaign to help fight prostate and testicular cancer. They had raffles, gave away prizes and organized a cake walk to raise over $1,250! It's encouraging that Snagajob has an environment to support non-profits, as well as not care about unsettling facial hair.
I think I got used to how I looked with a mustache during Movember, but by the last day I definitely felt dirty. When I finally shaved it off on the last day of the month, I looked so much younger and better. I, of course, shaved half of it off first so I was left with a half mustache on my face before committing and shaving off the rest. Maybe I'll do it again next year and maybe by then my mustache will actually connect.
