New toolsTwo new tools to help you get a job

Do you feel like you’re stuck at a job search dead end? Are you applying for jobs but never seem to hear back from anyone? While there could be any number of reasons for this, incomplete profiles and spelling errors are two of the most common mistakes that get applications thrown in the trash. That’s why SnagAJob.com has two new features to help you get the job you want:

- A profile meter
- Automatic spell check

Did you know that some employers won’t even consider applications that aren’t 100% complete? That’s why we created the profile meter. The profile meter will let you know if information is missing from your profile, so you can add those details and increase your chances of getting a job.

Starting Monday, July 27, our new spell check feature will help you to catch any typos in your writing (works with Internet Explorer only). Be careful though: spell check isn’t perfect and you still should have someone look over your profile for grammatical errors. These two new features could help you land the job you’ve been dreaming of.

Update your profile now.

Beat the competition
Beat the competition for back-to-school jobs

This was a tough summer for job hunters. So many people are out of work that good summer jobs were almost impossible to find – and many companies decided not to hire any new summer staff at all.

Here’s the good news: if you start your job search now, you could have a new job by fall. Most students will be leaving their summer jobs and they won’t start looking for new ones until they go back to school in late August or September. Get a head start: start researching employers now, spruce up your profile and begin sending out applications. A new Manpower survey says employers in certain industries plan to add jobs this fall – do you know what they are?

Employer best bets for fall
Retail jobs: Retailers say they expect an increase in their hiring this fall. National retailers now hiring include Kohl’s, Ulta beauty stores, T.J. Maxx and JCPenney.

Restaurant jobs: Most casual restaurants are almost always hiring wait staff, cooks and hostesses. There are openings now available at Applebee’s, Cracker Barrel and Boston’s Restaurant & Sports Bar. Hello, meal discounts!

Student jobs: Discover the best teen and student jobs and find out who will hire workers under 18.

Campus degree programs
Campus degree programs
Most people think there are two options for getting a college degree: enrolling in a traditional four-year college, or spending a lot of time on the computer for an online degree. Luckily, there’s a third option: finding a local campus degree program.

Sometimes called career colleges, these programs allow working adults and parents to get the degree or certification they need to start a career – fast. Some of the most popular programs are medical billing and coding, business, web design and graphic design, and culinary classes. What’s your dream career?
