How to defend yourself against ‘phishing’

Tips for protecting yourself from identity thieves and email scams

While SnagAJob.com is always extra vigilant when looking out for scams and schemes targeting our job seekers, we also wanted to give you a few pointers to help protect yourself from those looking to gain access to your personal information.

“Phishing” involves the use of fraudulent emails and copy-cat websites to attempt to trick you into revealing valuable personal information — such as account numbers for banking, securities, mortgage, or credit accounts, your social security number, and the login IDs and passwords you use when accessing online financial service providers. This information is then often used in an attempt to steal your money, your identity or both.

SnagAJob.com will never ask you to send your résumé, or any other personally identifiable information, via email to anyone. (You can read more about our security protections recommendations here.)

If you ever receive an email like this, neither the email, nor the email address listed therein, is associated with SnagAJob.com in any way.

All submissions to SnagAJob.com are made via our website. We strongly suggest that you refrain from sending your résumé, or any other personally identifiable information, via email to anyone unless you are personally familiar with the addressee. We also recommend that you visit the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s website for more information.

At SnagAJob.com, your privacy is one of our primary concerns and responsibilities. We take this commitment seriously, and we'll gladly answer any questions you have on the topic.
