Retirement jobs for 55-plus job seekers

More Americans age 55-plus are working now more than ever before. It’s a testament to modern medicine and a tough-as-nails work ethic.

The reasons are as varied and unique as you are. You might need the extra income, either because your cost of living in retirement is higher than expected or because you want to enjoy some luxuries, such as cruise vacations or a new putter for golf with the guys.

Also, continuing to work might give you an additional social outlet. It could be that you simply enjoy working – it keeps you engaged and fulfilled.

Whatever your reason, it is important to know that seeking a job after age 55 is a bit different than it was when you were a teen. It takes twice as long, on average, for a senior adult to find a job. You might also find that you must accept a job at a lower wage than you might have thought, in spite of the experience and knowledge you bring to the table.

You can overcome the challenges, however, through research and preparation. The articles in this section will help you do just that.
