Have you ever worked someplace where the clock never seemed to move? Then you were in the wrong job. If you hate being bored at work, try one of these three companies. Texas Roadhouse, Build-A-Bear Workshop and AMC Entertainment all believe that work should be fun. Here’s how they do it.
Texas Roadhouse
Don’t like boot-scootin’? Then you’d best apply somewhere else. Fast-growing chain Texas Roadhouse is known for its line-dancing servers, great steaks and exuberant atmosphere. “Life should be fun,” says founder Kent Taylor, “so the workplace needs to reflect that as well – and that is why we put our employees first.”
Servers and kitchen staff at Texas Roadhouse wear jeans and black T-shirts that say “I heart my job” – and they mean it. Every 30 minutes the servers and hosts perform a line dance that’s unique to each restaurant. Teams can even enter a national line dancing competition each year. “There’s two rules that we follow,” says server Baylee Long. “It’s being legendary and really having a good time.”

Build-A-Bear Workshop
Are you a bear-y paws-itive person? (And can you keep a straight face while reading that?) You might be perfect for Build-A-Bear Workshop. This chain of stores where kids can stuff and dress their own teddy bears prizes its culture of teamwork and fun.
If you have the good cheer and patience to work with hyper kids (and parents) every day, then Build-A-Bear will reward you with uncommon benefits. “Birthdays are a reason for cele-bear-ation,” the company says – associates get a day off with pay in their birthday month. And in September (Bear Builder Associate Appreciation Month), retail associates get an extra day’s pay. Build-A-Bear employees also give back to the community by volunteering at children’s hospitals and sponsoring families in need.

AMC Entertainment
Two words: free movies.
That’s right. AMC Entertainment offers employees free movie passes for themselves and a guest. Plus, you can enjoy discounted popcorn and soda. Employees say they enjoy the laid-back atmosphere – this is definitely not a high-stress job. AMC offers great jobs for teens and college students who have flexible schedules and are available to work weekends and late nights. You won’t make a ton of money, but you could be the first to see “Avatar 3: Bigger and Bluer” in 4D.
