Is a new job in the stars?

Said to forecast personality traits and events, zodiac signs are determined by the position of the stars when a person was born. Most people can tell you their sign, and polls show that about a quarter of all Americans believe their zodiac sign plays some part in their lives. The majority of Western cultures use the tropical zodiac (which has 12 signs), but recently there has been a lot of discussion about the 13th sign, Ophiuchus, frequently used in Eastern astrology. The Zodiac sign Ophiuchus isn’t technically new, but it was news to many of us! So whether you’re acclimating to a shift in the stars or just looking for new job opportunities, read on for our suggestions for Ophiuchians (and other peace-loving authority figures who wear a lot of plaid).

Features of Ophiuchus (November 29 – December 17):

Pursues peace and harmony: Customer Service

What’s the difference between an angry customer and a happy customer? You! Customer service is all about promoting tranquility and finding solutions that benefit your employer and their customers. If you are friendly and calm under pressure, you might be the key that allows everyone to walk away from the customer service counter happy.

Success as an Authority Figure: Security Guard

Job opportunities for security professionals are expected to increase over the next several years as everyone from corporate offices to casinos tightens security. Being a security guard can be dangerous work, but if you’re prepared for the challenge you can take home a paycheck and the knowledge that the world’s a safer place when you’re on the job.

Inventive, enjoys learning new capabilities: Construction Worker

Once you step onto the job site you can focus on excavation, demolition, carpentry or any of an endless variety of building trade specialties; you can’t swing a hammer without running into a new skill you could be learning (seriously though, be careful with that thing)! If you speak Spanish and English be sure to mention that to your prospective employer; the construction industry is increasingly made up of Spanish-speaking workers and being bilingual can give you an edge.

Likes to wear vibrant colors and plaids: Golf Caddy

We didn’t make this one up; Ophiuchus is a sign said to favor bright colors, and plaid in particular. As a golf caddy you may or may not be wearing plaid, but you’ll almost certainly be seeing plenty of it. Golf season sees the hiring of a number of caddies who team up with golfers to enable them to have the best game they can play. Ophiuchians, your friendly traits can serve you well in this profession, but remember that chatting during a critical putt is definitely frowned upon.
