Cashier
Serves customers cheerfully and promptly by performing all related check out procedures at the front-end in a fast, efficient, friendly and acurate manner. Accountable for all funds collected so that the drawer balances.
Part time or full time positions. Cashiers are expected to ensure customer satisfaction by giving prompt and friendly service. Cashiers are responsible for processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, cash register operations and safeguarding company assets.
Essential job functions:
- Provide highest level of prompt and friendly customer service
- Greet and thank each customer
- Maintain a positive work environment at the front end
- Scan orders accurately and efficiently
- Correctly identify items that do not scan and report them properly
- Bag customer’s groceries
- Count till before each shift and keep drawer secure at all times
- Proper identification of produce items
- Memorize produce PLU codes and keep up to date with new produce
- Accurate handling of customer cash, credit payments, and change
- Follow all front end procedures and policies set forth in the Cashier Manual
- Knowledge of weekly ad items
- Give customer direction of product location throughout the store
- Familiarize with events and seminars going on or coming up
- Excellent communication with front end manager and head cashier at all times
- Communicate customer requests to management
- Responsible for general housekeeping in and around the front end
- Assist with shelf stocking, facing, and dusting when needed
- Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned
Responsibilities:
- Operates front-end scanning equipment and register, performs all related check out procedures including properly bagging the customers merchandise in a fast and efficient manner and placing merchandise in customer's cart.
- Accountable and responsible for all funds including checks, cash, debit and credit slips and coupons. Maintains proper security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures, avioding excessive overages and shortages.
- Greets customers, maintains positive and friendly attitude and follows all company policies and procedures relating to customer check out, thereby maintaining high levels of cusotmer satisfaction.
- Performs other duties as directed by supervisor, including accepting responsibility for the cleanliness and condition of an aisle or product group as well as ordering and stocking merchandise for that area.
