Area Supervisor
Position Summary:
Leads multiple sales floor departments. Ensures customer service, merchandising, visual presentation and department operation functions are maintained to Company standards. Communicates merchandise needs to store management team. Directs workflow to sales floor Associates. Trains new Associates on sales floor operations. Effectively handles emergencies and accidents. Participates in the Manager on Duty program.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
• Greets all customers encountered. Exemplifies Kohl’s customer service philosophies of “smile and say hi” and “yes we can”. Assists customers in a friendly, courteous manner. Effectively responds to questions and requests from customers. Resolves customer issues within Company Standards.
• Assists at point-of-sale and service desk as needed. Ensures adherence to the Company’s 2-in-line standard.
• Assists in the communication, motivation and solicitation of daily credit goals.
Merchandising
• Regularly communicates to management trends/opportunities to drive sales and improve
merchandise presentation (ie: key sellers, merchandising or signing issues). Helps resolve merchandising issues.
• Implements all seasonal and monthly merchandising directives according to Company
standards. Assists in ensuring these standards are maintained daily while merchandising
incoming truck freight and replenishing the sales floor.
• Assists in implementation and maintenance of all Company stockroom capacity and
organizational guidelines.
• Supervises/assists with housekeeping, recovery and fitting room standards are maintained (including merchandise returns) to present a clean, orderly store each day.
• Assists in ensuring accurate completion of merchandise sets, planograms and other directives.
Replenishment
• Assists the replenishment team to utilize all replenishment reports daily and ensure Company instock goals are maintained.
• Monitors productivity of replenishment team to current Best Practice standards and communicates productivity results to store management.
Supervision and Operations
• Participates in MOD program; effectively administers and executes directives.
• Based on unique circumstances by store, may be required to execute store opening and/or closing procedures as MOD according to Company policy.
• Assigns tasks, directs workflow, and communicates policies and procedures to sales floor Associates.
• Assists in communicating daily goals to overnight and early morning Associates in freight and replenishment. Assists in leading these processes and monitoring productivity standards to ensure Company guidelines are met. Offers suggestions for improvement to store management.
• Communicates policies and procedures to sales floor Associates.
• Executes Company programs to Best Practices (ie: rewraps, mis-mates, damages, defectives, even exchanges and store shortage action plans).
• Supervises Associates to resolve discrepancies in USA counts and ensures the accuracy of price changes, SKU changes, transfers, even exchanges, and other necessary paperwork.
• Assists in interviewing and provides input on hiring decisions. Ensures Associates are properly trained on sales floor operations. Assists store management in developing and promoting quality Associates. Assists in administering Associate touchbases and provides input to store management on Associate performance reviews.
• Follows and reinforces all Loss Prevention and inventory control programs. Completes the overnight shift Loss Prevention check-in/check-out procedures/polices as directed by Company policy.
• Assists in editing Associate schedules and ensures scheduled hours meet workload. Reviews scheduled to workload reports and adjusts as necessary. Controls overtime and ensures Associates are working their scheduled shifts.
• Ensures all callbacks and ISC memos are completed accurately to meet Company goals.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs/assists in other duties as assigned. Examples may include, but are not limited to: housekeeping and maintenance duties, and replenishment/stocking.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in sales, customer service and other areas interacting with the public is required.
• Prior supervisory experience in one of the above environments preferred.
Job Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis.
• Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing or moving about the departments within the store.
Physical activities include bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis.
• Adherence to Company policy and procedures is required.
• Regular attendance is required.
