Operations Area Supervisor
Position Summary:
Leads the overnight/early morning freight and replenishment teams. Responsible for processing receipts of merchandise, fixtures and supplies. Processes returns to vendors and transfers to other locations. Maintains the receiving and stock areas to Company standards. Directs workflow to early morning/overnight Associates. Trains new Associates on receiving operations. Accurately completes merchandise counts.
Effectively handles emergencies and accidents. Participates in the Manager on Duty Program.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
• Greets all customers encountered. Exemplifies Kohl’s customer service philosophies of “smile and say hi” and “yes we can”. Assists customers in a friendly, courteous manner. Effectively responds to questions and requests from customers. Resolves customer issues within Company Standards.
Stocking & Merchandising
• Leads overnight/early morning Associates in receiving/stocking and merchandise presentation. Ensures accuracy of completed paperwork, vendor returns, transfers and all other merchandise handling functions. Ensures accurate completion of USA counts.
• Leads Associates to adhere to “Best Practices” when unloading merchandise, fixtures, and supplies from trucks and moving them to designated, appropriate selling floor or stock areas. Ensures merchandise is sorted, staged and EAS tagged appropriately (based on Loss
Prevention guidelines).
• Supervises/assists with housekeeping and recovery as needed to ensure the sales floor is customer ready.
• Assists in implementation and maintenance of all Company stockroom capacity and
organizational guidelines, including recovering the dock at the end of each shift.
• Assists in ensuring Company merchandise presentation directives and standards are met while merchandising incoming truck freight and replenishing the sales floor.
• Assists in ensuring accurate completion of merchandise sets, planograms and other directives.
• Assists sales floor departments in moving merchandise and fixtures on the selling floor or between the selling floor and stockroom areas.
Replenishment
• Assists in leading the replenishment team to utilize all replenishment reports daily and ensure Company in-stock goals are maintained.
• Monitors productivity of replenishment team to current Best Practice standards and communicates productivity results to store management.
Supervision and Operations
• Participates in MOD program; effectively administers and executes directives.
• Based on unique circumstances by store, may be required to execute store opening and/or closing procedures as MOD according to Company policy
• Assists in communicating daily goals to overnight/early morning Associates in freight and replenishment. Assists in leading these processes and monitoring productivity standards to ensure Company guidelines are met. Offers suggestions for improvement to store management.
• Ensures all Associates safely operate equipment, following safety rules and regulations as outlined in the Safety Manual.
• Executes Company programs to Best Practices (ie: rewraps, mis-mates, damages, defectives,even exchanges and store shortage action plans).
• Communicates policies and procedures to overnight/early morning Associates.
• Assists in interviewing and provides input on hiring decisions. Ensures Associates are properly trained on receiving operations. Assists store management in developing and promoting quality Associates. Assists in administering Associate touchbases and provides input to store management on Associate performance reviews.
• Follows and reinforces all Loss Prevention and inventory control programs. Completes the overnight shift Loss Prevention check-in/check-out procedures/polices as directed by Company policy.
• Assists in editing Associate schedules and ensures scheduled hours meet workload. Reviews scheduled to workload reports and adjusts as necessary. Controls overtime and ensures Associates are working their scheduled shifts.
• Ensures dock audit and ad set audits are to Company standards.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs/assists in other duties as assigned. Examples may include, but are not limited to: housekeeping and maintenance duties, preparation and taking of annual inventory.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior supervisory experience in merchandise receiving, handling and stocking in other retail or warehouse/distribution environments.
Job Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis.
• Ability to spend up to 100% of work time moving about the receiving area, stock areas, and sales floor. Physical activities include using hand tools, bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching.
• Adherence to Company policy and procedures is required.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Attendance at one or two supervisor meetings per month.
Additional Information:
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and attention to detail. Basic computer skills,including working knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
