Associate, Receiving/Merchandise Processor

Objective
Ensure smooth flow of merchandise from the truck to the backroom to the sales floor. Ensure store is well stocked, priced and displayed per company standards to maximize the opportunity for sales and provide a pleasant and safe shopping environment.

Primary Job Functions

Merchandise Process Flow

  • Ensure daily merchandise flow from the truck to the backroom to the sales floor.
  • Understand and execute company visual merchandising standards and planograms.
  • Assemble and set up merchandise displays and promotional items with understanding of premium space placement.
  • Assist with executing seasonal sets.
  • Process store-to-store transfers.
  • Process and address RTV’s for department(s).
  • Transport merchandise to other departments as needed.
  • Replenish and straighten merchandise to ensure sales floor is always in order and full.
  • Communicate to Department Manager any product outages.

Backroom Management

  • Maintain and monitor backroom integrity and inventory accuracy.
  • Receive freight and unload trucks.
  • Receive vendor direct drop shipments.
  • Must get authorized key carrier to open back door.
  • Be knowledgeable of departmental merchandise on the floor as well as in the backroom and replenish as needed.
  • Ensure backstock merchandise is properly labeled for in season and pack-away inventory.

Price & Sign

  • Mark identifying codes, tags and prices on merchandise ensuring appealing flow to customer.
  • Execute and monitor price changes.
  • Assist in setting department ad plans.

General Housekeeping and other

  • Keep department(s) and backroom clean and neat. Perform regular housekeeping duties such as, removing trash.
  • Address asset protection issues that may occur in the department in a manner that there is neither a loss to the company nor an uncontrollable situation with the customer.
  • Be familiar with Company Customer Service policies, including responsibility to direct customers to a Sales Specialist for assistance with merchandise.
  • Must comply with corporate Policies & Procedures (P&P’s).
  • Answer department phones courteously within three rings.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed.

Reporting Structure

  • The Associate, Merchandise Processors will report directly to the Lead, Receiving/Merchandise Processor.

Prerequisite skills/experience for position

  • 0-1 year experience in a retail environment or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Must be certified in all Warehouse equipment (i.e., forklift).
  • Strong attention detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Sports enthusiast preferred.
  • Ability to follow and execute directions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
