
Associate, Customer Service
Objective
Greet customers when entering the store and when customer approaches the register to make a purchase. Provide efficient and courteous service at checkout while ringing up the customer’s purchases and completing the sales transaction.
Primary Job Functions
- Service customers in a friendly and efficient manner. Ask the customer if they found the merchandise they were looking for, if not get a sales associate/manager involved. Thank the customer by name and ask them to shop with us again. Connect upset customers to manager.
- Complete sales transaction by accurately ringing all items into the cash register. Follow all company procedures as outlined in the cashier training manual, in regard to paperwork and cash management.
- Remove all sensormatics and hangers from merchandise prior to placing items neatly in bag(s) for customer.
- Re-ticket/sensor tag all merchandise exchanged prior to returning merchandise to stock.
- Be familiar with daily advertising and promotions to accurately ring sales.
- Maintain a neat and uncluttered work area by placing hangers, returned items and paperwork in the appropriate and designated locations.
- Possess product knowledge about the merchandise stationed around the cashwrap area and keep it well stocked when not busy on the register.
- Answer store phones courteously and within three rings.
- Address asset protection issues that may occur at the register (i.e. checking boxes or bags for excess merchandise, checking shoe sizes and apparel that is a pair or set). Handle these situations in a manner that there is neither loss to the company nor an uncontrollable situation with the customer.
- Call for additional assistance if lines develop three (3) or more customers.
- Ensure that the check acceptance policy is adhered to. Any problem with a customer should involve a manager. Read all security bulletins and alerts at the beginning of shift.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed.
- Possess sales skills necessary to sell add-on merchandise
Reporting Structure
- The Associate, Customer Service will report directly to the Lead, Customer Service.
Prerequisite skills/experience for position
- 0-1 year experience in a retail environment or equivalent relevant experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to interact enthusiastically with customers.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Sports enthusiast a plus.
- Retail sales experience
