Boss Shops Shop Technician Job Overview

Summary: Maintain inventory levels on all parts, accessories, tires, and oil; and over seeing the work activities of the Sales Associates by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Keep adequate inventory stock levels on all parts, accessories, oils, additives, and tires.
  • Assure that inventory is turnable and is rotated according to vendors.
  • Check all orders from vendors using the approved vendor check in policy.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly display of merchandise. Hold monthly meetings with the Sales Associates.
  • Insure proper costs and retails of product to maintain all margins.
  • Perform all Sales Associate duties.
  • Assist in the training of the Sales Associates.
  • Weekly inventory spot checks.
  • Manage all aspects of parts and supplies (ordering, receiving, pricing, storing, stocking, and adding new items to inventory).
  • Sell tires while insuring profit margins are maintained and trade guidelines are followed. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises up to 5 employees in the shop. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be able to be on their feet for up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Must have a working knowledge of parts and accessories.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have experience in inventory control.
  • Must work a minimum of 50 hours per week, available day or night as needed.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and be on call 24 hours/7days a week.
