Position Title: Asset Protection Specialist
General Description/Primary Purpose
Provides front end and departmental asset protection support to reduce incidents of fraud, theft and shrink exposure. Day to day responsibilities include: Inbound and outbound guest service, response to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms, response to possible theft or fraud by providing guest service as a deterrent; daily/weekly incident reporting to the Regional Asset Protection Manager via case management system; ensuring proper execution of the merchandise protection standards addressing safety issues upon observation, and Crisis Management support for issues as they arise within the store. (Apprehensions are not a function of the AP Specialist)
Essential job functions
- Guest service: Smile and engage every guest.; Address all questions and inquiries, if unable to address/ answer direct guest to appropriate team member for follow up.
- Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarm response: Respond to all incident of EAS alarm activation; verification of purchase receipts against merchandise when EAS is activated; ensure merchandise is deactivated for guests; educate cashiers on proper deactivation procedures.
- Theft Deterrence: Provide guest service to guests displaying suspicious behavior, such as Alert Signals.
- Theft Incidents: AP Specialists will not become involved in shoplifting apprehensions. Specialists will observe behavior, attempt to deter by utilizing guest service, and report any attempts by subjects to steal merchandise, money, or supplies; or attempt to defraud through counterfeit or fraud activity. Upon observation of such incidents Specialists will follow Store Operating Procedure guidelines.
- Store Management Support: assist management team with in-store exception reports, including POS adjustments and COSA reporting; provide monitoring and escorting support during register pulls; provide monitoring during armored card pickups/deliveries.
- Safety: Ensure safety hazards are identified and corrected throughout the day; work with store team members to increase safety awareness; ensure the safety of guests and team members at store closing.
- Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)- Utilize CCTV for reporting and documentation purposes.
- Off-Peak Time (Prior to opening and after closing): ensure that the store is properly secured, including a review of emergency exits, dock doors, trash compactors, etc.
- Retention and execution of tasks: Able to learn, understand and perform all essential job functions, at an acceptable level, with minimal supervision within 3 weeks.
