A Store Supervisor at Bell Nursery is the front line associate responsible for relationships with all key decision makers on customer site(s).  This role is also responsible for the visual merchandising, customer relations and seasonal labor at this location.   The Store Supervisor reports to the Area Manager (AM). The Store Supervisor is responsible for protecting all Bell Nursery assets and serves as the direct liaison with THD store management and associates, while also completing all administrative tasks related to product inventory, maintenance, and tracking.
Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Based upon District Manager/Area Manager direction and expectation prioritizes work flow and assigns duties to seasonal merchandising staff. Inclusive to any third party merchandising execution.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper scheduling and coverage for seasonal merchandising staff, as well as communicating schedule needs to the District Manager/Area Manager.
  • Work with the District Manager/Area Manager to oversee and manage the performance of seasonal staff.
  •  Assist District Manager/Area Manager with necessary training and retraining.
  • Provides daily communication with District Manager/Area Manager about operational issues within the local garden center.
  • Ensure garden center is prepared for weekly HD as; all ad skus on hand and signed accordingly.
  • Stock tables and displays with merchandise while keeping garden center in order and planogram compliant with The Home Depot expectations.
  • Set up product displays or arrange merchandise on display units to promote sales.
  • Ensuring proper signage is in place.
  • Ensures that the store is “Grand Opening Ready” seven (7) days a week and communicates any obstacles ASAP to District Manager/Area Manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring all delivery orders are accurate and checked in properly.
  • Must comply with safety and other Bell Nursery policies and ensure that such policies are followed by Bell Nursery staff.
  • Timely entry and updates onto the online spreadsheet (“Secure Sheet”) at store level.
  • Aware of merchandising staff weekly labor hours used and keeping AM/DM aware before OT.
  • Inventory Management.
  • Responsible for physical inventory counts as requested.
              -Complete/Oversee physical counts
              -Communicate product needs to AM/DM
              -Submit daily "Reconciliation" of items as needed/assigned
              -Communicate any information related to product quality to AM/DM
              -Daily recording of store discards into Secure Sheet
              -Order signage needs on Secure Sheet as needed
              -Receiving and confirming accuracy of deliveries
              -Recording all inbound and outbound transactions
  • Communicate effectively with Bell Nursery personnel as well as The Home Depot garden center personnel.
  •  Assist THD associates with customers by answering product related/general gardening questions.
  • Responsible for timely movement of product from delivery trucks to the sales floor.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper Watering and consolidation of live goods.
  • Responsible for identifying all less than full retail product and discarding and/or marking down as appropriate
  • Build strong working relationships with HD; working closely with HD Department head, Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:Skills and Competencies:
  • A basic knowledge of plants and gardening or an interest in learning about plants and gardening is required.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience merchandising consumer goods.
  • It is essential that the individual in this role possess a great level of professionalism and strong communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Candidate must be able follow direction, and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Must be able to supervise others and foster an environment of accountability and development.
  • Candidate needs to have basic computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work based on knowledge of company vision and seasonal objectives daily without supervision.
Requirements:
  • Weekend work is required and will vary month to month with sales velocity.
  • Must have access to a cellular phone during business hours; cell phone reimbursement is offered.
  • Effective communication is essential for customer service and communication with team members. This seems to be more of a competency.
  • Schedule will vary from month to month so it is important to be flexible.
  • Candidate must be able to stand for long period of time and be able to carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Minimum High School Education/Some College preferred.
