About this job

Provides various personal care and related paraprofessional services in accordance with an established plan of care. Provides for the personal needs and comfort of patients in their homes.

Essential Functions

  • Performs personal care activities that assist the patient with activities of daily living which include (but are not limited to):
    1. Personal hygiene (assisting to bathroom or in using bedpan, bathing, care of mouth, skin and hair)
    2. Ambulation
    3. Eating
    4. Dressing
    5. Shaving
  • Prepares meals and snacks according to instructions.
  • Performs patient-specific activities that are taught by a nurse. These could include (but are not limited to):
    1. Assisting with the change of ostomy appliances
    2. Reinforcement of dressings
    3. Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises
    4. Measuring and preparing special diets
    5. Taking vital signs
    6. Application of an external catheter
  • Performs homemaking activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate preferred.
  • Six months experience as a Personal Care Assistant in healthcare (in homes or facilities).
  • Successfully completed a Competency Evaluation that meets the State Licensing Law for home health agencies.
  • Current CPR Certificate is recommended.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job.
  • This position requires 75 hours of technical training including, checking vitals

All applicants should be willing to make a minimum of a 12 month commitment and be able to have some flexibility in their work availability.

REQUIREMENTS: Prior caregiving experience preferred

Excellent References

Valid SC Driver License

Reliable personal vehicle with valid automobile insurance

Clean criminal background

We are seeking Caregivers for the following areas; Lexington, Irmo, Richland, Gadsen, West Columbia, Blythewood, Camden, Elgin, Sumter, Bishopville, Hartsville, McBee, Camden,

Shifts may vary thus flexibility in availability is a must:

Shift types; daily / hourly, 12 hour, single Overnight stay, 3 day overnight stay, Holidays, and weekends maybe required.

Qualifications
