Our Far West Suburbs Food Manufacturing Client is seeking a Blending Manager

PURPOSE: Ensure the blending department production requirements and customers’ expectations are met in a manner that meets all safety and quality, and efficiency standards for products that are manufactured.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily: • Responsible for blending manufacturing performance, site safety and coordination between all warehouse, blending, maintenance, sanitation, quality and packaging departments • Responsible to meet company objectives regarding KPI for efficiencies, quality, safety, yields and meeting GMP’s • Attend daily production scheduling meetings. Ensure that line staffing meet schedule requirements. Understand priorities and ensure that they are met. Change production schedule if needed to meet shipments or balance raw material availability. • Monitor personal safety aspects. Review facility for any hazards. • Instruct Blending Supervisor on what needs to be accomplished for their shift. Coordinate between the shifts as necessary. • Primary focus is blending. Review blend performance, yields, KPI’s, quality attributes. Monitor performance boards, review operator sheets to make adjustments as required to improve performance. . • Support LEAN program through site 5S program, performance board documentations, quick change over techniques and team meetings. • Check to make sure the correct number of people are ordered and accounted for. • Print new production work orders or jobs if needed. • Handle any personnel, safety, accidents, or company problems that may arise. • Complete shift report documenting blending performance, any QC issues, any maintenance related problems or other issues that may come up. • Review previous day’s work order yields, line performance, hold reports and make recommendations for improvement. • Monitor exempt employees and temporary associates’ time sheets and performance in blending. • Set up training for associates and provide direction to site lead and supervisors. • Review equipment operation, coordinate maintenance work, and create work orders as needed to initiate repairs. Weekly: • Check inventory on non stock supply items that need to be ordered. • Fill our requisition form and turn into purchasing or Plant Manager Day shift to generate a P.O. number from Syspro • Place request for items that are needed. • Check weekly summary reports for temporary labor hours for accuracy. Sign off and authorize payment. • Formally review KPI statistics and provide reason for failures and ideas for improvements at weekly review meeting. • Conduct weekly 5S audits Monthly: • Conduct an in house sanitation GMP audit. • Attend safety meetings Occasional: • Conduct quarterly and yearly inventory

SUPERVISION SKILLS: • Supervise 2-4 Supervisors and 50-150 employees • Supervision of Blending Department, both shifts • Coordinate activities between QC, IC, warehouse and shipping personnel. • Supervision of Blend Operator and all employees which require coaching training, and motivating these employees in order to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all. • Work with employees to implement new ideas and produce a quality product at the lowest cost.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • 50% of day standing or walking the shop floor

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS: • Knowledge of blending and packaging machinery, VFFS, HFFS, Hayssen, Barlet, and Jones machines, case packers, coding equipment printers. • Knowledge of dry blending and sifting equipment

COMPUTER SKILLS: • Intermediate knowledge required in the use of personal computer. • Intermediate knowledge requirement in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook programs. • Intermediate knowledge required in the use of Syspro

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • In contact with plant and office personnel on a daily basis • Communicate and work with outside vendors • Understand the concept of quality assurance • Ability to motivate others • Strong attention to detail • Able to handle confidential information appropriately

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelors Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE: • Experience in working and managing in a food plant environment • AIB • GMP/SOP • HACCP • Safety • Lean/Continuous Improvement exposure/experience
