About this job

Job Summary: Performs washing of pots, pans, tableware, flatware, glassware, etc. either manually or with automatic equipment.  Cleans heavy equipment such as rangers, mixers, slicers, etc. Maintains entire kitchen in a clean and orderly manner.

 

Essential Elements:

 

  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to lift and move approximately 75 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb and reach continuously.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion. (For example: dishing         loading/unloading dishwasher, stocking and sweeping.)
  • Ability to properly maintain and properly operate basic kitchen equipment. For example: slicers, tilt skillets, steamers and mixers.
  • Ability to move freely within kitchen area.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work in temperature extremes, including handling hot utensils and equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry and store in overhead areas approximately 75 pounds.
  • Ability to operate and control heavy equipment (for example: dish machine and trash compactor).
  • Ability to interact with guests and other employees in a courteous, empathetic, and discreet manner.
  • Ability to work with chemicals for example: cleaners, disinfectants and solvents.
  • Ability to work in temperature extremes, including handling hot utensils and equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand and execute all safety & emergency procedures.
  • Not infected by diseases transmitted through the food supply and designated by the Public Health Service.

 

Job Tasks:    

           

  • Deliver food to associate cafeteria.
  • Maintain cleanness of cafeteria buffet.
  • Sort silverware.
  • Rack dishes.
  • Operate dish machine.
  • Wash dishes and glassware.
  • Clean dishwasher.
  • Clean kitchen grills, hoods, and fans.
  • Drain deep fryer.
  • Clean pots and pans
  • Clean mats.
  • Sweep floors
  • Mop floors
  • Operate disposal and other kitchen equipment.
  • Clean kitchen floors and drains.
  • Clean kitchen equipment.
  • Clean rest rooms off kitchen area.
  • Working with other staff members to keep the dining room attractive at all times.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in dish room, kitchen and all storerooms..
  • Minimize waste through proper handling and storage.
  • Prepare pantry items for use in fruit trays, meat platters, salad dressings, condiments, salads, etc.
  • Label, date and rotate all foods used.
  • Maintain basic knife and garnishing tool skills.
  • Operate all kitchen equipment in an effective and safe manner.
  • Working with all staff members to keep the kitchen area clean and free of spills at all times.
  • Prepare orders promptly.
  • Working with and keeping the lines of communication open between all employees to provide a smooth running operation.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by your Supervisor or Manager.

Education:

 

High school diploma preferred. 

 

Experience:

  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year banquet set-up experience
  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year food and beverage experience.
