Shift Leader

To direct and supervise the basic operations of the store during times when GM or AGM is out or occupied.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Effectively manage crew for Five Guys Store.

• Demonstrate and assist in training new employees to uphold the existing levels of food quality and customer service.

• Communicating with GM and Asst about employee situations such as discipline, positive recognition, employee morale, etc.

• Manage the Secret Shopper scores by communicating and energizing crew before and during shift about

Secret Shopper.

• Maintain and ensure a clean working environment in each store for the employees and our customers.

• Be available to cover shifts for vacations, sick days, personal emergencies, etc.

• Maintain and follow up with weekly cleaning responsibilities

• Help manage and master where crew members should be during shift.

• Setting an example for other employees through hard work and consistent management.

• Control Cost of Goods Sold to be no more than the specified monthly target based on monthly sales average.

• Assist GM and Asst to ensure period inventories are completed consistently and accurately for each store.

• Assist GM and Asst to ensure that the store is completing the following tasks on a daily basis: Prep to Par, Station Assignment, Temperatures, Cleaning & Revenue Calendars, Over/Short, and Bread Counts.

• Maintain and teach Five Guys standards in Food Quality, Cleanliness and Customer Service.

• Reasonable access to you is expected by GM and Asst Manager.

Other Duties:

• Assist GM and Asst manager in conducting audits on an as needed basis.

• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Crew

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required (unless otherwise noted):

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Computer skills including basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

• ServSafe Certification is required

• Basic knowledge of Labor Laws, Health Codes, Safe Food Handling and Sanitation, Safety and Security systems and procedures.

• Excellent communication skills, especially when providing instruction in a clear manner

• Ability to manage multiple tasks

• A well respected leader and effective trainer who displays good judgment when making difficult decisions.

• Possess high leadership skills, including positive attitude, friendliness, and calmness under pressure.

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

• Desire to be an Ambassador of the company to our crew and customers.

Shift Leader

Essential Duties:

  • Monitors and observes the day-to-day activities of subordinates, coordinates breaks for hourly associates, and keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems
  • Completes opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures
  • Coordinates with management for on-the-job training of new associates
  • Operates cash register and voids transactions as needed while following all HMSHost cash handling policies and procedures, and maintains proper security of cash at all times
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or use of a hand truck
  • Implements product rotation based on product code dates in warehouse and concepts, orders product and participates in physical inventory counts as required
  • Resolves customer complaints in a manner consistent with company policy, and with customer satisfaction in mind
  • Practices excellent food safety and sanitation practices and complies with HACCP standards
  • Monitors compliance with safety guidelines, builds awareness about safety, and reports any safety concerns to management
