A client in Lafayette, IN is seeking an experienced chef to lead their kitchen.

Summary:  Plan and coordinate the preparation of nutritious meals. Order and purchase all food and kitchen supplies.  Maintain Kitchen safety and food handling procedures throughout production. Maintain ServSafe certification. Do routine cleaning and maintenance of kitchen, storage areas and equipment.  Supervise the part time kitchen staff. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Observes expected work hours.
Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
Observes dress code.
Prepare and provide quality instruction.
Present clear, complete, and accurate explanations so that students understand what is expected.
Approach subject matter in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
Demonstrates good work attendance.
Assumes the privileges and responsibilities of employment as outlined in the Employee Manual.
Demonstrates a reasonable effort to maintain and improve adequate job knowledge and skill level.
All other duties as required.

Undergo a background investigation that includes previous employment, personal/professional references and a criminal records check.

• Must be in the Lafayette area or able to reliably get to Lafayette.
Education and/or Experience    
             
• Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in the food-service industry and a Culinary degree from an accredited university.
Must have or be able to successfully complete ServSafe certified food handler program. 
Language Skills    
             
Ability to read and interpret documents.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability
                 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
