What we're looking for

Flexible schedules: We can't offer set hours each week, as our facilitators work when we have programs scheduled. Applicants for the 2015 season must be available on weekdays during the school day.
Willingness to learn: You don't need to have any knowledge of technical climbing or outdoor education, although experience working with young people is a plus. We provide 40 hours of hands-on and on-the-job training, working alongside seasoned facilitators.
Passion for our mission: Our facilitators believe in what we do. We engage people in powerful and fun experience-based learning activities as a catalyst for building relationships, improving self-esteem and supporting one's peers.
Stamina and commitment: The work we do is hard. But at the end of each day, no matter how hot, tired, or exhausted you are, we hope you will be energized, satisfied, and gratified. We hire people who want to invest the time and effort it takes to become an expert facilitator.

What our facilitators do

Challenge Discovery is much more than a ropes course, and while safety is our first priority, our facilitators are much more than climbing experts. Job responsibilities include:

Leading groups through warm-up activities, problem-solving exercises and high challenge initiatives
Leading debriefing sessions after each program that are intended to explore group dynamics and connect team members' experiences to real-life situations at home and school
Ensuring the safety of every participant by following our strict Quality Standards
Speaking credibly about Challenge Discovery and articulating its values, beliefs, and reason for existing
Mastering technical skills needed for our Odyssey Course, a two-level high ropes course
Inspecting and maintaining equipment
Learning from our talented team of energetic and experienced professionals
