A Whelan Security Premier Security Officer must represent Whelan's 10 Core Values of Truth-Telling, Promise-Keeping, Respect, Loyalty, Empowerment, Discipline, Leadership, Flexibility, Quality Assurance, and Results while performing the following duties:
  • Patrol facility or stand post as instructed and serve as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions.
  • Detect suspicious activities and watch for criminal acts or client rule infractions at or near assigned post which may be a threat to the property, client or employees at the site.
  • Report all incidents, accidents, or medical emergencies as required. Respond to emergencies, such as medical and bomb threats; and to alarms, such as fire and intrusion by following emergency response proceedings.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Patrol industrial or commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
  • Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
  • Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and verbally evict violators from premises.
  • Provide world-class customer service in greeting, assisting and directing anyone on the premises.

Basic Qualifications :
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.

Mandatory Prerequisites

Experience, Work History, and Education :
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements.
  • Must have at least one year experience in similar environment performing security/customer service functions. Military service may apply.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a stable work history with at least one verifiable positive work reference.
  • Have evidence of obtaining a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must successfully pass an extensive background screening which will include criminal record checks (local, state and federal), drug test, skills assessment test, interviews, and personality profile.
  • Negative result on pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to achieve CPR certification
  • Must have a valid driver's license/clean MVR
  • Must have no criminal convictions as specified under Whelan Security guidelines.
  • Successful completion of Whelan's Pre-Employment Assessment of Knowledge (PEAK).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
