Our food manufacturing client in Merrillville IN is in immediate need of a Sanitation Supervisor. Direct Hire - $40-50K year depending on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Plans, coordinates, monitors, directs and continually improves all aspects of the sanitation function • Leads the sanitation group to meet its cleaning responsibilities within available time schedules • Responsible for ensuring complete training of all employees for proper sanitation procedures, safety procedures, lockout-tagout, emergency evacuation, monitor employee GMP and HACCP programs to maintain company and USDA requirements • Manages chemical usage and supply control programs for inventories, operational and cost efficiency • Conducts full sanitation audits relating to procedures, quality, safety and tear downs for compliance • Monitors equipment for routine maintenance, repair, & replacement for GMP compliance • Reviews performance, provides coaching & counseling, mentoring as needed to increase present performance • Assures that the work force receives adequate training and supplemental review on the safe and effective use of equipment and supplies • Maintain Environmental Microbiological test results are within the acceptable limits • Oversee daily functions of recycling and waste disposal • Lead day-to-day for all janitorial, sanitation, and machine cleaning activities • Develop, update, and implement daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules for all areas • Provide input to the management on the staffing needs for the department • Takes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause level • Work in conjunction with the QC and Production on concerns, recommendations, and work practices to improve sanitation standards and integrity of product • Participates in Food Safety inspections, audits, and reports, as well as preparation of the same • Compliance with the assurance the HACCP and OSHA standards are followed • Inspects products and equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation standards • Maintaining and writing detailed clean up procedures and SOP’s for all plant equipment • Being accountable for plant sanitation program and direction and results for plant, warehouse, and plant grounds. • Daily understanding of each departments’ schedules • Evaluate all opportunities to utilize resources for sanitation during production and scheduled downtimes • Manage daily custodian activities • Skills assessment and evaluation of team member capacities • Improve routine sanitation to a heightened level with a goal of being “audit ready” • Work with Maintenance to schedule equipment “out of service” for sanitizing and repair • Work through lead Sanitation Techs to delegate work and service time on a 24 hour basis

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED • Excellent interpersonal skills – team player • Hard worker who is a self-starter and proactive • Great attention to detail • Time management assertiveness to adjust to specific duties • Exposure to food related environments • Operate a personal computer and peripherals. • Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication. • In Depth knowledge of the operations a Confectionery Plant is an asset. • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a good understanding of basic office computer software. • HACCP and GMP training • OSHA 10 Certification

EXPERIENCE • Prior sanitation and chemical usage background • 2-4 years of successful supervisory experience, preferably within a Confectionery plant environment. • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment • Experience with processes such as HACCP, SOP’s, and GMP’s is required • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety systems • Knowledge of SQF standards preferred • Institutional, confectionery, or industrial Maintenance background preferred.

EDUCATION • High School Diploma or G.E.D is required
