Operating ride vehicles or narrating a show, it's all in a day's work for Attractions Attendants.


Attractions Attendants at Universal Orlando are responsible for:

  • Operating attractions and providing exemplary guest service which includes the following: loading and unloading the ride, check ride restraints and lap bars, provide safety instructions and ensure compliance, assist guest with special access, operate the control console and dispatch the vehicles, watch that the attraction is being operated safely via monitors. Evacuate the rides and shows in the case of a shut down. Deliver appropriate scripts and/or spiels.
  • Welcoming and greeting guests, screen for appropriate attire and height requirements, provide guests with attraction information, monitor the queue lines and make appropriate adjustments, measure attraction wait times and keep the area neat and organized.
  • Understand and demonstrate the proper use of safety practices while opening, operating, and closing the venue. Monitor rides and shows and ensure appropriate Safety Procedures are followed as instructed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Constantly monitor immediate area and surroundings for trash and debris and assist in its removal as needed.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



To perform the role of an Attractions Attendant successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
  • High school degree or GED is preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment and operate ride vehicles and moving machinery.
  • Required to ride the attraction/ride to insure show quality and that special effects are in the proper working order including: lighting, sound, animatronics and general maintenance
  • Responsible for evacuating the attraction/ride and assisting guest through various evacuation methods including: extreme heights, water ways, various types of platforms, stairs or ladders and other acceptable evacuation methods. 
  • Must be able to work in an environment with loud noises and where lighting is used to replicate various effects including: weather conditions, night or daylight, strobe and other special effects.
  • Must be able to communicate via phone, intercom, radio and control panel.   
  • Must be able to read, write, communicate and follow safety instructions and procedures. Required to follow ride operation manual and successfully complete training test.


The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Attractions Attendant job.

  • Work with repetitive motion including; extending reaching, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting greater than 30x’s per hour.
  • Use arms and hands to push and pull lap bars.
  • Lift greater than 25lbs or more.
  • Visually distinguish hand signals at a distance of up to 50 ft.


The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the Attractions Attendant job.

  • Be exposed to working with vibrating equipment/tools.
  • Be exposed to noise including: having to raise voice to communicate to Team Members nearby.
  • Be exposed to bodily fluids including: blood, vomit, etc.
  • Be exposed to working on water ways, ponds or water attractions.
  • Working at heights greater than 4 ft.
  • Working with pressure washers.
