Summary Description

 

The Regional Produce Trainer is responsible for conducting all training development, techniques and programs for the Produce Department. This position analyzes current training techniques and programs through conducted surveys to ensure effectiveness. Also, this position conducts orientation and training sessions for new hires. The Regional Produce Trainer reports directly to the Regional Manager.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Prepare training budget for department or organization.
  • Evaluate instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members.
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Conduct orientation sessions and arrange on-the-job training for new hires.
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
  • Train instructors and supervisors in techniques and skills for training and dealing with employees.
  • Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures.
  • Train and develop merchandising techniques to optimize financial performance.
  • Advise and assist Produce Managers in the promotion, program execution and inventory management of the Produce Department, resulting in achieving sales, profit and customer service goals.
  • Provide information and support to stores on new items, holidays, merchandising and quality standards.
  • Set up new stores and remodels, implement programs and objectives and train store personnel.
  • Act as a liaison between the Produce Department staff and Store Management/Regional director.
  • Keep updated on competition and perform comp checks.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of proven retail management experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Full technical knowledge of retail produce operations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate techniques involved in training, inventory control, management and quality of produce products.
