Position Purpose:
With guidance from Pooch Hotel/Play Manager, oversee the daily operation and supervision of a POOCH HOTEL/PLAY to ensure it meets profitability projections.  Supervise, train and coach hourly associates in all areas and functions required to run the business to POOCH HOTEL/PLAY standards.  Ensure all associates provide quality customer service to satisfy the needs of POOCH HOTEL/PLAY customers. Ensure all expenses are maintained within budgeted levels.  Guarantee the POOCH HOTEL/PLAY area's appearance adheres to company standards and safety protocol.  This job is composed of a variety of tasks that are covered by general operating procedures but also require individual judgment to ensure successful operation of POOCH HOTEL/PLAY.  Responsibilities will vary depending on the size and location, the sales budget, and number of associates.

  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all   professional contacts with emphasis on company interests.
  • With Pooch Hotel/Play Manager's guidance, recommend hires, train, develop, supervise and motivate a team to drive sales through effective supervision and quality customer service.
  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple supervising tasks within established timeframes by effectively planning and managing workload, delegating work, supervising and monitoring Pooch Hotel/Play Pack Leader associates.
  • Exercise exceptional business management and personnel management skills and the ability to exercise appropriate discretion.
  • Have a strong interest in animal welfare.
  • Handle canines up to 150 pounds.
Supervisory Responsibility:
With Pooch Hotel/Play Manager's guidance, supervise and manage hourly Pooch Hotel/Play personnel.
 
Work Environment:
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although occasional customer assistance and bank deposits will require that an employee leave the location briefly.  Because this position requires bending, kneeling, handling of canines (up to 150 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from failure to follow safety precautions and procedures.  A limited amount of travel will be required.

Education:
In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of mathematics, basic accounting relationships, analysis and problem-solving skills.  Excellent communication and computer skills are also required.  Some college level business/management courses preferred.  Completion of specific POOCH HOTEL/PLAY Management Achievement Program Modules may be required for internal candidates.
 
Experience:
One or more years in a supervisory or lead role or the equivalent is preferred as is previous retail experience. A working knowledge of general business practices is highly desirable, as are strong organizational skills.  A qualified applicant will possess an aptitude for demonstrating basic sales techniques and the ability to instruct others in their application. In addition to having a professional appearance and demeanor, the applicant must also demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in all kinds of animals, most importantly canines.
