The Senior Engineer for our Content Operations Department will be responsible for providing operational support of Time Warner Cable ' s video acquisition, encoding, management, delivery and advertisement systems in support of traditional and IP based video delivery. This position offers the unique and highly visible opportunity to operate exciting and innovative new capabilities for Time Warner Cable.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Perform ongoing testing, monitoring, design and complex problem resolution of the acquisition, encoding, storage, management, delivery, advertisement systems, and players associated with classic services and the next generation IP video delivery services

2. Document problem resolutions and communicate to internal and external customers

3. Perform software upgrades in a lab environment, test and document configuration changes and methods of operation.

4. Work with internal and external vendors and support organizations

5. Provide escalation support to customer support groups and if needed manage additional escalations internally and externally

Job Requirements:

Broad experience is preferred but extensive experience in several areas is acceptable

1. Strong team player with the ability to work individually when needed

2. Experience working with caching and streaming delivery platforms

3. Understanding of HTML, HTTP, HTTPS, and DNS

4. Understanding of video delivery and players associated with Apple HLS, Microsoft Smooth Streaming, and Adobe FMS

5. Experience with large scale storage platforms

6. Experience with content and video management systems and associated metadata

7. Knowledge of video capture, transport and encoding technologies including satellite capture, HD-SDI, MPEG2, MPEG4, MPEG2 Transport Streams, JPEG, and PIFF containers

8. Experience with hardware and software used for doing adaptive HTTP video encoding from vendors like Digital Rapids, Cisco, Elemental, Harmonic, RGB, Microsoft, Adobe, or others

9. Experience with Advanced Advertising specifications SCTE-30/35, SCTE-130, ESAM, ESNI, VAST, VMAP

10.Familiarity with content encryption and modern DRM systems

11.Experience supporting data networks including Sonet/SDH transport, Ethernet, MPLS, and interior and exterior IP routing protocols

12.Understanding of firewalls and proxy servers

13.Experience with multiple operating systems including variants of Windows, Unix, and Linux.

14.Experience with C#, Silverlight, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, HTML/CSS, and shell scripting

15.Excellent verbal and written customer support skills

16.Strong analytic problem solving and troubleshooting skills

17.Flexibility to work extra hours and holidays if needed

18.Availability to be contacted after hours including weekends and holidays via a pager or cell phone

19.Experience conducting network performance reviews, trend analysis, and chronic issue identification

20.Ability to manage changing priorities and pressure levels

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years supporting Classic QAM based distribution systems, Content Delivery Networks, IP based video acquisition and encoding for over-the-top video delivery, large scale data storage platforms, content and video management systems, Internet video players, Unix/Linux systems, large scale IP networks or a combination of these areas.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor ' s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

Lead: Assigns, trains, schedules or oversees work of others.

Travel 10 %
