Summary Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and other production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Tracks and monitors preventative fleet and equipment maintenance programs to ensure all inspections and maintenance work is performed as scheduled and/or as required by company policy or local, state or federal regulation. Completes oil changes and performs regular preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles. Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts. Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction or to test performance. Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Initiates purchase order for parts and machines. Sharpens tools such as blade, shears, and other metal equipment used for cutting. Mechanic Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
