Imagitas Seeks a Director of User Experience and Visual Design

The Director of User Experience and Visual Design position resides within the Digital Commerce division of Pitney Bowes. Imagitas is an innovative life stage marketing services company with a proven strategy for reaching 40 million annual movers with the products and services that consumers and advertisers find most relevant.

This position is responsible for our suite of products and services with the goal of increasing user engagement and revenue. Based on a solid understanding of business and user needs, this person will be responsible for designing the UI for multiple channels and products, serving as a resident design expert, and helping teach others in the organization about UX best practices. The position will work closely with the Development, Product Managers, Analytics and Sales teams to ensure seamless execution of the digital strategy. The right candidate will be an integral part of our talented team, supporting our continued growth. This position will be located in our Waltham, MA location.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work closely with a highly accomplished, entrepreneurial team to build presentations, storyboards, proof-of-concepts, demos and prototypes for our digital products and customers.
  • Sketch user flows with Product Managers and turn them into working prototypes.
  • Break design problems down into viable chunks and solve them with clarity.
  • Create mock-ups plus deliver graphical elements and style guides for mobile applications.
  • Contribute as a designer as well as manage external design resources and priorities.
  • Gather with engineers to create an improved way of presenting content and services.
  • Analyze engagement metrics and usability insights from an optimization test-Rapidly iterate and launch a follow-up usability study.
  • Help design and create a seamless, easy-to-use, consistent look and feel for our digital products.
  • Design unique location-driven, highly personalized mobile experiences and monetization opportunities such as geo-targeted coupon notifications, and help pitch them to our retail partners.
  • Research the mobile payments & wallets landscape to understand how we might fit in to disrupt the mobile shopping experience. Conduct ongoing research of mobile design and user interface best practices. Keep tabs on new websites and apps-did they surprise you with a new approach? How can we learn from it and make it better?

Qualification


Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in digital design with experience with consumer mobile apps (iPhone/Android).
  • Must be extremely proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering highly polished designs under tight time constraints.
  • Experience designing simple and intuitive Mobile & Web user interfaces.
  • Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS, etc.).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to explain design concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with consumer Internet products and start-ups.
  • An intuitive grasp of how different devices (mobile vs tablet vs desktop) impact user experience.


Preferred/Specialized Qualifications:
  • A mobile-first attitude, with the understanding that it doesn't just mean shrink to fit a small screen.
  • HTML/CSS knowledge a plus.
  • Experience at a design-focused technology company, design firm, or creative agency desired.
  • Love working with product managers and engineers.
  • A self-starter with a get stuff done attitude and the ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to smoothly shift from concepts to detailed execution.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
  • Agile /Scrum experience as a Designer.
  • A vision for how location can drive relevance across mobile, desktop, and email.
