Tool Room / Tool and Die

Crown Services in Schaumburg is looking for a candidate that is interested in working for a manufacturing company in Elgin and Carol Stream as Tool and Die.

TOOL ROOM POSITION - FULL-TIME (40 HOURS/WEEK) (TEMP-TO-HIRE)

• This work is for a formally trained, highly skilled craftsman.
• The work requires an individual with experience in the manufacture of close tolerance, multi-stationed progressive metal forming dies.
• Individual must be able to take a leadership role in overseeing the work being done in the tool room.

• Perform secondary operations on CNC turned tooling.
• Locate and drill precision holes with use of .0001 indicator and digital readouts. (sizes from .030 to .187)
• Put part numbers on finished tolling.
• Restore radius on round tooling, mostly 1 l/4 diameter and smaller.

(radius .005 to .125)

• Operate all conventional tool room equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.
• Working from measured prints to construct dies, punches, pins, cavities, etc. with minimal supervision.
• Skilled in the use of all hand tools to final fit or repair dies or inserts.
• Work closely with manufacturing to build, modify, or ‘debug’ production dies.
• Proficient with all standard precision measuring equipment and instruments.
• Design and make tooling fixtures.
• Excellent English language skills – verbal and written.
• Proven leadership skills.

         POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Vision corrected to standards to safely operate all aforementioned tool room equipment and machinery
• Completion of a formal tool and die apprentice program.
• Three or more years of experience as a journeyman tool and die maker.
• Able to successfully pass a standardized mechanical understanding test and spatial relation test.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time as required.
• Possess physical strength to be able to handle die parts, use hand tools, move material in and out of lathes, mills, etc.
• Flexibility to support production requirements in an accurate and timely fashion.
• C.N.C. program and set-up a plus.
