Assistant Innkeeper

Are you a cheerful, optimistic, organized, enthusiastic, energetic, self motivated, reliable, honest, multi-tasker who enjoys being productive in a beautiful, pleasant environment and helping others? Are you interested in a career in hospitality? 10 Fitch is looking to hire such a person as an innkeepers assistant. Initially 30 hrs per week progressing into full time at some point in the future. Strong phone and computer skills, preferably on a Mac, and the ability to learn quickly as well as general cooking skills are required.

Duties would vary from day to day and season and would include but not be limited to answering phone inquiries about the inn & area, booking reservations, setting up guest massages, dinner reservations & winery tours, checking in guests, checking out guests, preparing & serving breakfast, house keeping, gardening, shopping and running errands. Position requires that you can move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested. Knowledge of the area and what it has to offer is a MUST but can be learned and will be part of the training process. This position requires working weekends and holidays when we are open, and staying at the inn when the innkeeper is away, with some flexibility in availability preferred.  Must be reliable, cheerfully hard working, teachable, & trustworthy.

Looking to hire a person who desires hospitality as a career. Please do not apply if you are only looking for a temporary position and are not serious about hospitality as a long term career. We will train the right person to eventually manage 10 Fitch for us. Our goal is to hire and train someone who along with part time cleaning help, can run the inn in our absence. If you have ever wanted your own bed & breakfast this is a wonderful way to get hands on experience and see what it's really like. We are seeking to establish a long term commitment between 10 Fitch and the person we hire, who initially will be coming on board on a trial basis at $10 an hr during a minimum training period 3-6 months.  At the end of 3 months we will determine if the person hired is a good candidate for full time employment and is adequately trained or if training should continue. Evaluations will be done every 6 weeks until training is complete and the innkeeper is satisfied with their performance and confident that the assistant can effectively run the inn (short term, a couple days - a couple weeks) without supervision or assistance. At that time an increase in pay to $11 an hr will be established. After 18 months another evaluation will be done at which time pay could increase to $12 an hr and other incentives may be offered including full time hours, paid vacation & sick time, even possible commissions on bookings.
