About this job

As a Manager, Clinical Applications Support you will be responsible for day to day operations and uptime of clinical applications which are utilized by a local care delivery organization (LCDO).  This will involve management of healthcare technical support personnel, vendor management, intra-company relationship management in the legacy environment and more recently at the corporate levels.

 

Additional responsibilities will include:



  • Manage a staff of direct and indirect resources for their assigned applications and manage established budgets and forecast


  • Participate in the budget setting process including justification of planned staffing levels


  • 24/7 application support in the clinical areas to ensure maximum up time


  • Responsible for the implementation of continual upgrades and patching of all clinical systems


  • Responsible for managing large IT-related projects


  • Key participant in business continuity planning and exercises


  • Manages temporary and contracted labor and on-going system access authorization


  • Provides responses to mandatory annual entitlement review activities in conjunction with local IT management


  • Ensures timely resolution of data issues in multiple interface engines; volumes in excess of 66 sources and 2M+ transactions monthly


  • Ensures timely resolution of equipment and application issues for mobile clinicians, including wireless connectivity, device troubleshooting and hot swap


  • Application administration and configuration on the systems in use by Southwest Medical, Family Healthcare Services, Family Home Hospice, and THC of Nevada – roughly 20 major applications and a number of minor/subordinate systems serving approximately 3,000 users


  • Facilitate external vendor and business partner relationships


  • Responsible for the Data Governance for all clinical systems


  • Responsible for information risk management in conjunction with UHG IRM


  • Responsible for the implementation of large system-related capital projects, including expense tracking and reconciliation and vendor management

Requirements



  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team of at least 10 employees


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical application support environment including strong understanding of troubleshooting process


  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


  • Proficiency with MS Visio


  • Experience providing support in a 24x7 environment


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience


  • Previous experience identifying key metrics and producing/presenting reports on these metrics


  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are critical for this role


  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changes in priority 

Assets



  • Healthcare industry experience (preferably with a multi-specialty group practice) and understanding of related regulatory matters (HIPAA, ARRA, etc.)


  • Previous experience supporting one or more of the following: Allscripts TouchWorks, GE Centricity Business, Fuji Synapse, Allscripts Homecare, GE Centricity RIS, Nuance Powerscribe, Fastrack, RNA Helix or similar clinical applications


  • Vendor management experience


  • Understanding of current SDLC methodologies and platforms as well as project management process


  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley and other audit / security requirements


  • Experience interfacing with an offshore team


  • Experience in an environment which involves strong dependency upon other organization(s) not within same reporting structure
