AppleCare Medical Group was formed in Lynwood, California, in 1996. Over the last 17 years, the multispecialty medical group of independent practices has expanded into new communities, contracted with more hospitals and health plans, and added over 50 new doctors—but the mission has remained the same. As a part of our continued growth, we are searching for a new Coding Supervisor to join our team...

 

The Coding Supervisor functions as first line management for the Coding Department and provides oversight for the staff. Responsibilities entail coding activities within the department that may include: staffing issues, audits, project management, staff development, quality management, as well as training.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provides day-to-day supervision of coding staff

  • Coordinates staffing assignments for the coding team.

  • Conducts clinical documentation training for physicians, physician extenders and office staff and regularly reports results to team and to offices

  • Responsible for the performance and effectiveness of designated attestation recapture tools

  • Coordinates select chart audit initiatives

  • Audits program outputs for performance and productivity goal attainment

  • Provides input and feedback on employee performance and conducts counseling and disciplinary actions as necessary

  • Performs quality audits on all vendor charts as well as internal coding team charts.  Results reported to Management team

  • Conducts performance reviews and evaluations of staff

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:               


  • Current RN or LVN license in the state of California

  • 3 or more years of Clinical Nursing experience

  • 1 or more years of Supervisory/Management experience

  • AAPC or AHIMA certification required

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Access to reliable transportation, car insurance and valid CA driver's license

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:


  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
