Sculptor & Mold Maker (Seasonal) - Macy's Parade Studio

Job Overview:

The incumbent will utilize his/her skills as a sculptor and fabricator to craft floats and other studio projects for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Essential Functions:

• Work as a mold maker to fabricate silicone and hard molds from clay sculpts
• Produce roto-casting and pour casting with 2 part urethane plastic in silicone molds
• Sand and finish castings as needed for appearance and painting
• Acts as a crewmember on installations, set ups and take downs.
• Acts as a team member for events as needed
• Collaborates with design studio manager and the production manager on methods of project engineering and planning.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by director of production and/or production manager

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

• Bachelor or advanced degree in Sculpting preferred with relevant work experience
• Must be fully skilled and experienced in methods of mold making and casting
• Must be fully skilled and experienced in sculpting clay, armature fabrication and accurate scaling
• Knowledge or experience in foam sculpting, a plus
• Knowledge or experience in welding, a plus
• Must be able to read scale drawings and use scale models
• Must be self directed, able to work with minimal supervision
• Must be flexible to the needs of the business

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment. Present a professional image consistent with Macy's brand values.
