Description

The Vice President of Media is a critical role within DPSG responsible for setting an integrated media strategy, overseeing all media buying for our brands, and setting key performance milestones. This person will be responsible for media strategy for each offline and online channel, and directing our media agency in ensuring effectiveness and efficiency in the plan and the buy.

The VP coaches a team of 4 Directors in defining strategy and building the consumer media plan across our biggest brands including Dr Pepper, 7UP, Canada Dry, Sun Drop, Snapple, and Mott’s. The foremost responsibility for this role is coaching and driving capabilities.

This role demands a results-oriented, strategic and innovative thinker able to develop and own an agenda. Our holistic media approach includes responsibility for all four screens: television, computer, tablet, and phone. The position is also responsible for staying on top of emerging media trends and consumer behaviors, ensuring that our messaging breaks through and reaches our target, measuring campaign effectiveness, and using return on investment analysis to ensure our goals are met. Other specific responsibilities include supporting our brand teams in the annual planning process, communicating to sales/ distributor/bottler teams, building branded entertainment programs/ promotions, and measuring results.

This individual must be able to build and maintain successful relationships across multiple functions in the broader organization. The ability to influence senior leadership is critical as this role will be driving strategic direction and alignment with the CMO, Sales Presidents, Marketing SVPs, and senior distributors/bottlers.

Location:

The role will be based in Plano, TX with 20% travel in the U.S.

Responsibilities:
1.People Coaching & Capability Development: Coaching and developing a team of experienced Directors, Managers and Associates. Setting objectives and developmental training plans, providing coaching, and frequent feedback. Training the team in more effective and efficient media solutions that better connect our brands with consumers.
2.Strategy Development: Leading development of long-term media strategy for DPS. The emphasis will be on setting holistic strategy, leveraging emerging media, including the development of goals, key metrics, and key organization support needs. Leading development of media briefs.
3.Integration: Pushing the thinking on how to best ensure consumers are surrounded by a consistent brand message. Using creative platforms to maximize Paid, Earned, and Owned media. Pushing to make bigger, more breakthrough media events. Overseeing the development of partnerships that deliver best in class branded entertainment and brand integration.
4.Indoctrinate Interactive & Social Media: Partnering and building relationships with key interactive and social media players to ensure that DPS is leading social media conversations to build brand equity and sales volume. Leading media innovation agenda and be a change agent within the media function.
5.Execution Excellence: Ensuring that DPS optimizes media spend. Measuring all media placement and programs for efficiency and effectiveness.
6.Agency Management: Leading the relationship with our key media agencies. Overseeing annual contract and scope of work development for our partners. Providing frequent performance feedback.
7.Insight Development: Working with Market Research and agency partners to develop deep consumer insights through internal, external, primary and secondary data sources. Leverage these insights into targeted communication initiatives that span the marketing mix.
8.Brand Activation: Helping to develop and execute annual brand program for our biggest brands. Working cross functionally with Promotions, Sponsorships, and PR teams in development of world class consumer programs that build equity and drive sales.
9.Innovation: Lead cross-functional teams in testing of innovative media and media approaches.
10.Organization Alignment: Drive organization and customer engagement for key media strategies. Secure cross functional alignment for team’s efforts (brand teams, PR, sales).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 12 years communications experience with a proven track record of hands on experience in integrated media plan development and buying
  • 6 years experience managing digital and social media
