We currently have an opening for a Transportation Planner/Buyer. This is a contract that has potential to turn into a permanent opportunity with one of the largest manufacturers in the area.
Job Duties include:
Transportation Responsibilities:
-Develop effective working relationships with your customers, partners and supplier base, both internally and externally
-Maintain regular partner communications to assess delivery issues, carrier performance, claims, freight policies and/or continuous improvement efforts.
-Collaborate with your peers and supplier base to develop cost effective transportation services.
-Investigate and resolve invoicing issues to maintain positive supplier relationships, ensure future materials deliveries, maintain required production levels and provide feedback to management regarding any process or systems issues.
-Engage in and support Transportation/Logistics Team Meeting and Green Belt/LSS projects as needed.
Buying Responsibilities:
-Purchasing material for inventory and non-stock items
-Reviewing Purchase orders and faxing and/or EDI over to vendors
-Monitoring to make sure fax and/or EDI's went through and confirm expected ship dates and updating system.
-Resolving errors on purchase orders as required.
-Investigating and determining what/how/ why material came in incorrectly or damaged (for non conformances).
-Reviewing open Purchase Orders not printed.
-Filing Purchase Orders.
-Assisting with cycle counts.
-Reviewing reports for stock outs and expediting open orders.
-Monitoring price increases and communicating changes as necessary.
-Reviewing line points/ order points for inventory stock levels.
Qualifications
-Either previous transportation/buying experience or degree in Supply Chain management
-Proficient in Microsoft Office
-Previous TMS experience beneficial but not required
-Self Starter
-Ability to work independently
