General Summary: The Warehouse/Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the administration and management of all aspects of the plant’s warehousing activities to ensure the plant and customer requirements are met. This responsibility includes the development and supervision of lift truck operators and warehouse personnel, development of plans for cost efficient warehouse utilization, tracking of inventory for accuracy and space utilization, and coordination of shipments with customer and freight companies. Responsible for the procurement of supplies and materials, scheduling of production lines and the development of inventory plans to maximize the plant’s running efficiency while minimizing labor and storage costs to be consistent with the plant goals. Develop and analyze longer term schedules. Increased contact with customer, possible SAP interaction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 1. Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices. 2. Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices. Works with S&OP to develop materials plans and maintains production schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders. 3. Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine optimum inventory and production plans and staffing requirements. 4. Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices. 5. Supervise Lift Truck Operators in their daily activities including directing, training and evaluating. 6. Optimize warehouse space utilization by developing plans based on production schedules and customer requirements to minimize overall warehousing costs. 7. Conduct job safety training for plant personnel involved with lift truck operation. 8. Manage the plant’s pallet component inventory including physical counts, reconciling, sorting and distributing the components. 9. Manage inventory record accuracy including cycle counts, investigations, and adjustments. 10. Oversee lift truck maintenance and inspections. 11. Oversee housekeeping in the warehouse and on the shipping/receiving docks. 12. Manage product flow between LCLP, customers, and off-site warehouses. 13. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the Warehouse department. 14. Fill in as an LTO as necessary. 15. Review shipping/receiving paperwork for accuracy. Supervisor Responsibilities: Direct reports include all plant logistics personnel and others as assigned. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Three or more years warehousing/material handling experience at a “lead” or supervisor level. Must have experience in all aspects of warehousing including space management, FIFO, product quality management, housekeeping and all other warehouse process. Must have three years of forklift experience Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak English. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, vendors, or customers of the organization. Foreign language skills may be preferred in plants with a large contingent of non-English speaking employees. Computer Skills: Knowledge of MS Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Outlook) and EMIS software or similar management software experiences a plus. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and follow through to a solution. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift License.
