The Market Human Resources Leader partners with the Regional HR Director, Market Vice President (MVP), and leadership at auctions in the assigned market to develop and execute an HR strategy for the market that will support business needs, promote consistency and best practices, and align with national People Strategies objectives. With input from local HR professionals, identifies HR needs and recommends solutions. Responsible for implementation of programs for assigned market, directly or through local HR professionals. In partnership with Regional HR Director, takes a leadership role in the training and development of auction leadership and local HR professionals. Provide back-up support for local HR within the market as needed. Responsible for meeting the HR needs for assigned market as well as supporting departmental efforts with some project responsibilities. Works outside assigned market as requested.


Candidates will cover one market which consists of the following locations: Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN; North & South Carolina; Birmingham, AL; New Orleans & Lafayette, LA; Hattiesburg, MS. Travel: 50-75%


• Serve as a strategic business partner to assigned market and to market leadership including MVP, General Managers (GM), and Market General Sales Managers.
o Assist Regional HR Director with development of a strategy for implementing consistent, best in class HR practices across auctions within assigned market that align with efforts to standardize business operations and will drive employee engagement and business results
o Assess current HR practices in market and recommend areas for improvement
o Work with Regional HR Director, local HR leaders, and market and auction leadership teams to implement tools and processes for improvement
• Provide sound, legally compliant guidance to management regarding a wide variety of employee relations issues, including not limited to discipline/termination, harassment/discrimination, wage and hour, leaves of absence, recruiting and hiring, drug testing, employee vs. independent contractor, etc. Interpret, administer and enforce company policies and rules, employment polices and applicable employment laws and regulations. Ensures HR operations within market are in compliance with all legal and company requirements.
• Directly or in conjunction with local, regional, and/or corporate HR, investigate employee complaints, including complex matters, and recommend appropriate resolution to business leaders.
• In partnership with Regional HR Director and/or GM, lead, develop, and serve as a role model to a team of local HR professionals in assigned market. Ensure the team is skilled in the areas of employee relations, staffing, PeopleSoft, payroll, benefits, compliance, safety, leadership development tools (360 feedback, new leader assimilation, etc.), and provides excellent customer service, both in terms of providing timely responses and sound guidance that meets departmental standards and information that is consistent with organizational policies, best HR practices, and the law.
• Promote development of auction staff and their professional and technical knowledge by championing training and other educational opportunities, and assist Regional HR Director in implementation and/or facilitation of training and related programs.
• Oversee and coordinate performance management and year-end salary administration programs within the market.
• Prepare established human resource operations budget for the market.
• Perform HR Manager functions for local auction as assigned, or as back-up for local HR professional, including but not limited to:
o Oversee the resolution of employee concerns and the employee opinion survey administration and action planning processes.
o Manage the staffing, recruiting, and on boarding functions.
o Manage the overall employee experience by partnering with the Employment Service Center to ensure timely administration of paid benefits and leave management program.
o Ensure HR recordkeeping is accurate and in compliance with applicable laws and company requirements.
o Manage employee separations, prepare related documentation, and conduct exit interviews as appropriate. Serve as liaison for unemployment vendor/state agencies.
o Manage the performance appraisal program and year-end salary administration process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Education:
o Bachelor’s & Masters Degrees in Human Resources Management or related field preferred.
• Experience:
o At least 5 years of experience as a Human Resource Leader required.
o Experience managing multiple locations and other HR professionals is strongly preferred.
• Travel:
o Extensive - ability to travel up to 50-75%
• Competencies/Skills:
o Excellent communication and interaction skills required.
o Effective and competent management, leadership, and organizational skills required.
o Strong knowledge of local, state and federal labor and employment laws necessary.
o Ability to build strategic relationships and trust, gain commitment, and demonstrate business savvy.
o Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines and effectively work in a fast-paced environment.
o Ability to adapt easily to change and to lead others through change.
o Good computer and software knowledge essential.
• Certifications, Languages:
o PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
o Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
