Service Writer Summary: Oversees the mechanics on a particular shift or site while they perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, prepares work schedules and determines the priority of work.
Service Writer Responsibilities:
- Scheduling and monitoring service, repairs and other shop activities.
- Communicating with operators and drivers about the current status of equipment being operated.
- Conducting quality inspections to ensure proper repairs are made and units are road worthy.
- Updating the data base with current and accurate information.
- Conducting a daily safety meeting with crew.
- Prioritizing repairs.
- Opening, reviewing and closing repair orders.
- Assigning personnel to jobs based on their capabilities.
- Immediately reporting any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions.
- Determining the necessary repairs and ordering the parts required.
Qualified Candidates For The Position Will Have Met The Following:
- Required:
- High school diploma or its equivalent and 10-12 years of hands on experience, or a graduate of a technical school with 5-8 years' experience.
Working Conditions:
Shop, office, yard, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs., at least once a day.
