REM Arrowhead, a part of REM Minnesota, supports individuals throughout the north shore area with a range of challenges including intellectual and developmental disabilities and brain injury. Based in Duluth, MN, REM Arrowhead offers a range of residential services, including this Group home, REM-Endion Park in Duluth.

This is a Part-Time position which includes every other weekend hours. This position offers you an opportunity to increase your skills in Autism, American Sign Language, and Personal Cares.

Our Caregivers (or Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) serve in a high impact role, providing support to individuals with disabilities, which include medical complexities, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and physical disabilities. Every person needs the support of others, and DSPs are the link to the community for those they serve. For some, they may be the eyes of those unable to see, or the voice for those who can’t speak. For others, they are friend, cheerleader and subtle support on the path to one’s true potential.

The people that carry out this rewarding, care-giving support play an integral and crucial function in the success of our organization. DSPs provide assistance with daily activities such as meal preparation and planning; medication administration; and personal care. DSPs may also facilitate community involvement by accompanying individuals on outings in the community or providing transportation to work or other activities. In addition, DSPs support therapeutic and behavioral plans in partnership with clinical staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license in good standing
• Six months of experience in human services preferred
• Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks
