Outside Machinists Job Description

· Experience in overhaul, maintenance and testing of pumps, valves, turbines, condensers, winches, shafts and rudders

· Install, repair and test main engine, propulsion plant machinery, elevators and equipment

· Read & comprehend complex drawings, blueprints, diagrams & sketches

· Working knowledge of shipbuilding terms and nomenclature

· Good mathematical skills required for taking measurements using precision tools for setting up equipment and machinery within close tolerance specifications

Job Requirements

• Must have at least three years relevant and verifiable work history

• Must have basic trade specific hand tools

• Able to lift 50 lbs

• Ability to communicate openly and effectively

• Must pass a drug screen

• Reliable transportation required

• Must be able to work 1 st or 2 nd shift

• Active/Recent Security Clearance

• OSHA 10 Maritime Card ideal

• Respirator fit a plus
