Home Instead Senior Care is looking for caring and compassionate CAREGivers to become a part of our team and join our mission of enhancing the lives of aging adults throughout our community.  Home Instead Senior Care provides a variety of non-medical services that allow seniors to remain in their home and meet the challenges of aging with dignity, care and compassion.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Companionship and conversation
  • Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation
  • Medication and appointment reminders
  • Assistance with grooming and bathing
  • Assistance with toileting and incontinence issues
  • Alzheimer’s Care
*No previous experience necessary - skills training provided by Home Instead Senior Care*

Requirements to be a CAREGiver:
  • Ability to treat and care for seniors and their property with dignity and respect
  • Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner
  • Complete a criminal background check, DMV check and drug screen
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, valid auto insurance, and valid car registration
What makes our office the Employer of Choice:
  • We pay overtime - even though the Department of Labor has ruled that CAREGivers providing companionship and home helper services to the aged and/or infirm are exempt from receiving overtime, we DO pay it.
  • Education - we believe that a CAREGiver that has several learning opportunities on a yearly basis is not only happier, but will provide higher quality of care to the seniors that they serve.  Due to that, we offer several different CAREGiver Development Classes for CAREGivers as an opportunity for continuing education.  These classes are offered free of charge and held several times a week.
  • We provide services to our clients regardless of the weather conditions - this means that not only do our clients still receive much needed care, but you still earn a paycheck.
  • Culture of Appreciation - we believe that CAREGivers are our biggest asset.  They are the backbone of our company.  We show this appreciation in both big and small ways throughout the year.
  • Positive Work Environment - we have a low tolerance for those people that don't have a passion for serving seniors.  We strive to only hire those people that have a positive outlook on caring for seniors.
  • Phones are answered 24 hours a day/7 days a week - Regardless of what shift you are working - morning, afternoon, overnight, weekends - you have a support person that is available 24 hours a day/7 days week.
  • In Field Support - Regardless of whether you are a seasoned CAREGiver or brand new at being a CAREGiver, we want to be a support to you.  We have a full time CAREGiver Support Coordinator available when needed.

As a potential CAREGiver, you need to be aware of the following requirements and expectations which are non-negotiable:

  • The starting wage for this position is a supplement, very part time wage, of $8.50 per hour for shifts worked with companionship and home helper clients.  Shifts that are spent doing what the company defines as "training" are paid a wage of $7.25 per hour.
  • If you are a CNA, you need to be aware of the following:
1.     Starting wage for Personal Care Assignment is $9.50 per hour
2.      You must have a license that is in good standing with the Virginia State Department of Health
3.      You must be willing to accept assignments regardless of whether or not it's considered personal care.  This means that if we offer you an assignment that is not personal care for $8.50 per hour and it's within your availability, you need to accept it.
  • There is no guarantee of hours with our company.  You could go several days or weeks without any type of work because of the population we serve.
  • If you are solely in this for the income then it's not the job for you.
  • We are looking for people that truly have compassion and a calling in life to serve the senior population.
  • If you are truly looking to work with us because you want to work with seniors, and not solely for the information, then keep reading.
  • You must have your own vehicle and a valid driver's license as you will be responsible for driving clients to appointments, etc.
  • You must have your own automobile insurance and car registration.
  • You must be at least 21 years old.
  • We will run a criminal background check.  If you have any crime that is related to trust issues such as stealing, embezzlement, any barrier crime by definition of the State of Virginia then we will be unable to hire you.

  • If you accept the position and you are hired, you will be required to sign an Employment Agreement form, upon completion of Orientation, that includes, among other things, a six month/300 hour commitment to work for the company
  • While employed, you must accept and work at least one shift per month to remain employed.
