PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:



The Cook works directly with the Chefs and culinary team daily. They are responsible for preparation of meals, various kitchen duties such as ensuring all necessary supplies are available for shift. They must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of the company.


  • Check the available food supply, including cuts of meat, sauces, par-cooked items, spices, vegetables and other condiments needed by the chef to ensure an adequate supply for the shift.
  • Set up the cooking station by obtaining all necessary equipment and materials.
  • Prepare and plate all items in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Follow all standard sanitation and health department guidelines; including food handling and wearing gloves.
  • Maintain a safe, organized and sanitary work area.
  • Breakdown the station, label and store food in accordance with departmental procedures.

    Qualifications:
    • Between 1 to 5 years experience in fast paced, fine dining, resort or hotel, banquet or restaurant kitchen.

    • Culinary school certification or degree preferred.

    • Knowledge of different types of meats, fish, seafood and poultry and preparation methods.

    • Experience using kitchen equipment and materials.

    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

    • Excellent communication skills.

    • Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.

    • Must have current California Food Handler Card or willingness and ability to obtain California Food Handling Card before first day of employment.
