Qualifications:
  • Show reliability and dependability and possess training in industrial maintenance.
  • Possess reading, writing and mathematics skills at a high school level
  • Able to work 1 st /2 nd shift
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen.


Requires physical strength and dexterity to frequently manipulate controls, walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist, work at elevated positions and lift/carry 50 to 100 pounds depending on location. Hand coordination to grasp, push, pull and fine manipulation. Vision, hearing and speech essential. Job requires ability to work extended hours, contact with hazardous materials and work in adverse weather conditions. Job Description:

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Perform preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance under some direct supervision on all but basic assignments.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Communicate and coordinate assignments with supervisor and verify procedures and maintenance requirements to ensure assignments effectively completed. Utilize computerized maintenance system (CMMS).

2. Become familiar with all plant equipment.

3. Perform basic maintenance skills in all of the following areas and perform proficiently in at least half of these areas:
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical facility blueprints.
  • Cut/weld - General Millwright procedures
  • Inspect, Maintain, Diagnose and Repair the following:


Hi Voltage Electrical Systems (MCC)

Process Control Systems

Air, Liquid and Hydraulic Systems and their distribution

Broiler and Steam Distribution Systems

Mechanical Systems-Gear / Drive / Motors / Conveyors, etc.

4. Assist other mechanics and direct maintenance activities of other personnel with lower maintenance skills to perform preventive and corrective maintenance.

5. Continually monitor plant and equipment for faulty or dangerous conditions and show leadership in recommending plant maintenance and improvement needs.

6. Accept and take all education or training offered by Southern States for better job performance.

7. Accurately complete assigned reports, logs or documents.

8. Clean and maintain repair work areas, shop area and other areas assigned by Housekeeping plan. Adhere to J80 QA bulletin and insure compliance with all quality and HACCP programs.

9. Safely operate so as to not harm equipment, yourself or your fellow employees. Comply with OSHA Regulations, company Safety Rules, and (hot work/lock-out/ tag-out) Work Rules and policies.

10. Perform overtime and work "off hours" as required and other duties as assigned.
