Job Summary

The Pricing Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting the sales force by both retaining and growing volume and revenue for UPS. He/she provides competitive rates and effective pricing strategies that both maximize profitability and favorably position UPS in the marketplace.

The Pricing Senior Analyst evaluates and analyzes pricing requests and Price Quota Requests (PQRs) to ensure that request information from the field is accurate and complete. He/She collaborates with sales and pricing personnel to gather information not in the PQR. This position runs queries on current contracts, volume and rates to determine pricing needed to win or retain business. He/She enters PQRs into the pricing database to record the start of work. This position develops pricing strategies and discounts.

Other Duties

  • Evaluates competition and market conditions to formulate appropriate and profitable sales/pricing strategies
  • Develops Price Quote Authorizations (PQAs) outlining the discount program, and completes ad hoc analysis showing the financial impact of different pricing scenarios.
  • Complete and submits bid acceptance checklists, bid response forms, signed copies of contracts or addendums, bid worksheets, and cost summaries to the administration group for implementation
  • Audits contracts or addendums for accuracy after acceptance and implementation
  • Responds to internal and external requests to provide pricing solutions and account strategies
  • Provides training on pricing strategies and issues
  • Handles contract generation and makes revisions as needed

  • Applies Pricing Knowledge: Understands the various pricing processes for small to large customers and when they are utilized (e.g., template, AE custom; freight forwarding one day quotes, quick quotes and RFP – simple and complex); understands how to complete rate comparisons between competitors
  • Applies Problem Definition & Structuring Knowledge: Identifies key factors behind basic problems and establish a path to solve them; proposes approaches to solve more complicated problems; investigates and diagnoses anomalies in routine business results.
  • Applies Service, Product, and Customer Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates a basic understanding of products, services, and customer facing technology solutions offered by UPS along with their features and business applications; describes general customer profiles targeted by the company.
  • Conducts Competitive Analysis: Demonstrates a basic understanding of competitor’s tactics, product/service offerings, and strategies; translates competitor performance and actions into implications for UPS.
  • Finance Knowledge: Accurately reads and interprets financial reports and statements; demonstrates an understanding of relevant financial measures, revenue and cost drivers; applies financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives

Minimum Qualifiers

  • Bachelor’s degree - Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration - Preferred
  • Experience in MS Office Excel including creating Pivot Tables and using V-Lookup.
  • A proficiency using Microsoft Office Access with emphasis on creating & using databases.
  • Experience applying financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives
