Optum Labs is looking for a Director of Innovation to assist in the development of new products and services for the healthcare industry based on the Big Data assets developed by Optum Labs and its partners such as the Mayo Clinic and AARP.


 


Our Director of Innovation will be responsible for evaluating new products developed by Optum Labs through research, fellowship and partner collaboration.  This team member will need to create detailed estimates of the potential commercial/revenue opportunity as well as the capital required to invest realize these gains.


 


Once a product is selected, this candidate will also have to define product requirements and go-to-market plans.  This person will need collaborate with software engineering teams as these teams develop and deploy new software products and services.


 


He/She will also evaluate business plans from startup companies and joint ventures with partners.  He/She will review these plans on multiple dimensions, including financial, market, competitors, features and technology.  A deep understanding of product lifecycle management from concept to execution is critical.


 


Responsibilities



  • Create and develop business plans using the Business Model Canvas and other frameworks

  • Create market opportunity and projected revenue estimates

  • Define product features and requirements

  • Create and manage product roadmap and lifecycle

  • Analyze and evaluate new business and partner opportunities

  • Support requirements development and execution for an Agile software process

Requirements


  • Experience with market evaluation, demand assessment and primary research to support the analysis of new products created by the labs and opportunities with lab partners

  • Extensive experience in financial modeling & planning

  • Experience in developing business & strategic plans, including product evaluations and new business plans

  • MBA is preferred

  • Min 7+ years of business experience

  • Familiarity the healthcare industry and/or lifesciences

  • Familiarity with agile software product development and software devops is a plus

  • Experiences with Big Data and Cloud Computing technologies are also a plus
