JOB DESCRIPTION:

The brand-new Cambria Suites hotel, located in Downtown White Plains, NY, is seeking an experienced leader to manage the engineering/maintenance operations of this 130-suite, modern, luxury hotel. The overall objective is to maintain the standards of product quality and functionality in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the brand and hotel ownership. Thus, ensuring the maximum comfort and satisfaction of guests and associates.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Chief Engineer creates an experience for our hotel guests by offering them a homelike setting with welcoming, helpful and exceptional service, while maintaining a clean, comfortable and inviting environment. This position will be responsible primarily for the effective general maintenance and repairs in guest suites, meeting space, public area and back of the house areas; Guest suite and public area preventative maintenance included. They will also be responsible for maintaining the mechanical systems including refrigeration, heating/air conditioning, electrical, plumbing/boilers, pool, kitchen, housekeeping/laundry equipment, and IT equipment, requiring skills and experience in these areas, as well as good written and verbal communication skills. The Engineer will work closely with the Executive Housekeeper and Front Desk team to ensure guest room standards and satisfaction. Together, they all contribute to the hotel's commitment to high quality guest service and teamwork. They must be the kind of person who appreciates high standards of excellence. The ideal candidate will have shown success providing direction, support and development of personnel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

  • Two years of college or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a building maintenance department, including one year in a supervisory capacity. Hotel experience preferred.
  • Opening hotel experience is ideal, but not required.

Certification:

  • Journeyman’s accomplishment in one of the trades.
  • HVAC Certification and Pool Certification a plus.

Skills:

  • Specialized technical crafts: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast paced position with guest interaction
  • Ability to train and lead others.
  • Requires strong command of the English language to include speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others quickly

Availability: Must have schedule flexibility for both AM and PM shifts, weekends, and holidays.
