About this job

SCOPE:

Clean and sanitize all areas of the kitchen and operate the dish machine in a safe, accident-free manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operating dish washing machine: maintain organization – proper rack stacking, silver presoaking
  • Sweep and mop floors; keep floors clean and dry, pick up wet spills immediately
  • Clean walls, tables, racks, sink, floor mats, and disposal area.
  • Clean ovens, hoods, filters, grease traps, drains, hot boxes, steam tables, flat boxes, and ceiling vents, according to schedule or specified by management team
  • Empty all trash cans over ¾ full at the end of each shift or when asked by management team. Wash out and return bins back to kitchen
  • Perform special cleaning projects as assigned by the management team. Polish stainless steel
  • Use time productively
  • Knows how to safely operate and clean all kitchen equipment
  • Arrives at work in a timely fashion in accordance with the posted schedule. Attendance as scheduled is required.
  • Abides by established uniform guidelines with proper clean uniform, wearing work shoes
  • Maintains a “can do” and a “guests first” attitude at all times.
  • Works as a member of the overall hotel team to ensure that each guest has an experience that exceeds their expectations
  • Attends scheduled training sessions within the hotel as dictated by the brand and the hotel management.
  • Must be able to understand and speak English to comply with functions directions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • No formal education required
  • Previous experience preferred

Skills:

  • Hospitality/Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • English language literacy
  • Strong organizational & Prioritizing skills
  • Ability to work under high levels of stress, mental and physical

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing, heat, stairs, walking, heavy equipment, etc.
  • Continual standing
  • Continuous motion operating the dish machine, dishware handling, and floor maintenance
  • Working with extreme temperatures (freezer, direct heat)

Environment:

  • Hearing: able to hear direction, i.e., “hot pan”
  • Vision: must be able to check dishware for cleanliness, ability to asses cleaning requirements
  • Equipment:
  • Dish machine, pots, pans, smallwares, glasswares, flatwares, dishwares, racks, general supplies, cleaning chemicals, etc.
