We're now looking for a dynamic Consultant for Healthcare Data, Technology and Marketing Analytics. This team focuses on leveraging existing and future data assets and software products to meet Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Medical Device Manufacturers information needs on market dynamics and competitive activities.  Data assets will include Optum's dNHI database, a comprehensive, de-identified patient longitudinal dataset, Humedica's comprehensive de-identified longitudinal virtual EHR clinical database, and the integration of the two.  Software products include Optum's Clinformatics (tm) suite of business intelligence tools and Humedica's NorthStar (tm).  The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of consulting experience supporting the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and/or Medical Device industries.  They will have experience supporting business development, overseeing and delivering the work (strategic data and analytics consulting), and training staff.  The nature of this work involves substantial travel (50-60%), and candidates will be remote (telecommuting) employees.

 

Core functions of the role include:

 


  • Lead consulting engagements and manage customer relationships in a developing analytics and market research consulting business leveraging Optum's and other data assets

  • Motivate, recruit and train market research and analytic consulting professionals to support consulting activities

  • Acts as functional subject matter expert on data and analytics to support data, business intelligence applications and analytic sales

  • Partner with internal team members on cross functional client engagements

  • Develop processes to effectively execute consulting engagements

  • Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business

  • Participate in the development of business strategy

  • Provide accurate and timely reports on the status of data, technology and consulting projects and client relationships

  • Ability to effectively understand client needs and translate into actionable solutions

  • Ability to develop insights and recommendations based on empirical analysis to drive client business

  • Develop case studies and business proposals to support business needs

  • Predict emerging customer needs and participate in the development of innovative solutions to meet those needs

  • Interact with other departments, such as sales, operations and client services, to ensure a high level of client satisfaction through successful execution of projects and use of applications and data

  • Work closely with Product Development and other entities within the Optum family of companies to support product improvements and new product offerings targeted at the sales, marketing and market research community needs.  Provide thought leadership on new ideas and interface with customers to obtain feedback.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

 


  • Bachelor's degree required; post-graduate degree preferred.

  • 10+ years combined consulting experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and/or Medical Device industries.

  • Ideal candidate should have a mix of vendor and client experience in marketing, market research, marketing analytics and sales operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to consult with clients on how to effectively leverage data to achieve business objectives.

  • Experience leveraging clinical or claims data to address business questions in the life sciences space.

  • Proven track record of managing analytic data consulting engagements, pull through on use of business intelligence applications and consulting teams.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, analytical, organizational, problem solving and presentational skills.

  • Solid planning and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results.

  • Client experience in management science or market research areas a plus.

  • Ability to travel 50-60% of the time.

  • Expect 40% business development, 60% strategic data and analytics consulting.
