About this job

Responsible for the financial reporting, accounting, reconciliations and analysis for certain healthcare costs related to the Employer & Individual and Medicare & Retiree segments of UnitedHealthcare a leading Company in the US health care system.

 

Primary Responsibilities:  

 


  • Monitoring provider financial balances, solvency and issues.

  • Involved in the monthly/quarterly close process. Ownership of the daily close reporting activities and summary of financial results. Analyzes and prepares monthly variance explanations.

  • Prepares documentation in support of external and internal audits and Sarbanes Oxley.

  • Reviews and monitors account reconciliation process. Reviews and approves journal entries.

  • Maintenance of general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.

  • Special Projects associated with any of the above areas of ownership as needed. Act as project manager in cross functional/departmental/segment projects.

  • Supervising the daily activities of 4 high level staff

Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 7-10 years experience in accounting, financial reporting, preparing internal and external audit requirements, leading teams and cross-functional work

  • At least 5 years experience managing others

  • Knowledge of accounting systems, GAAP, and financial statement reporting expertise.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required as this position will ensure clear and thorough communication between accounting, finance and client

  • Strong computers skills  - Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Excellent organizational skills; demonstrated management skills and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Self-starter; detail oriented; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and meet short deadlines

  • Ability to highlight issues or problems and convey complex thoughts, written and oral, in a clear, concise and timely manner.

  • CPA (with audit experience at public accounting firm) and or MBA strongly preferred

  • PeopleSoft. Oracle and or Essbase experience would be preferred

  • Experience within the healthcare industry a plus
