Position Description: Sanitation Manager
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that the facility is clean and sanitary, which requires management of sanitation in all areas of the building including production, office, break rooms and bathrooms. The Sanitation Manager will oversee employees in their area of responsibility as well as conduct or coordinate the necessary training for this team. This position is usually a Monday through Friday night position but may include other days such as weekends, holidays and have a variable work schedule.
Principle Roles & Responsibilities:
* Supervise daily workloads, training staff, and handle performance reviews and goal setting.
* Oversee all sanitation functions for plant/shift.
* Order and manage usage of chemicals and supplies. Responsible for inventory and storing of sanitation supplies.
* Decides sanitary procedures and food safety adequacy.
* Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as well as Standard Sanitary Operation Procedures (SSOP) and other Local and or state and or federal requirements.
* Schedule major cleanup projects with other departments, such as shipping, receiving, production and quality.
* Maintain chemical usage and cleaning logs. Documents sanitation function.
* Monitor staffing to reduce costs and increase efficiencies whenever possible.
* Responsible for training all new sanitation workers in proper cleaning SSOPs, chemical use, and safety procedures.
* Manage detailed cleaning tasks through sanitation work orders, and master sanitation schedules.
* Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.
* Responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas.
* Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies.
* Additional responsibilities as necessary
Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent, prefer technical training or some college 2-3 years of sanitation experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
Computer skills required: working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel . Sanitation knowledge and knowledge of the manufacturing food industry. Job involves frequent reaching, walking, standing, pushing or pulling and twisting. Also involves, stooping, and bending to waist and ground levels. Requires ability to lift 10 to 50lbs throughout the day. Must be able to work in a cold, wet, refrigerated environment. Ability to operate a forklift truck and electric pallet jack.
